Everyday Liquid Sunshine 2 D3 + K2 – Bone & Immune Support | 2 fl oz Drops
Everyday Liquid Sunshine 2 is a liquid vitamin D3 and K2 supplement. Each dropper squeeze gives you 5,000 IU (125 mcg) of vitamin D3 as cholecalciferol and 120 mcg of vitamin K2 as all-trans MK-7, dissolved in fractionated coconut oil and sunflower oil with natural orange flavor. One 2 fl oz bottle holds approximately 70 servings. It supports bone and immune system health.†
We're built to make vitamin D from sunlight on bare skin. Then life moved indoors, and an Oregon winter of short, cloudy days gives your skin little to work with. Everyday Liquid Sunshine 2 is for adults who know their vitamin D tends to run low (ideally because a blood test told them so), whose practitioner is comfortable with a higher daily dose, and who want D3 and K2 in one morning dropper. Aging isn't optional. Getting old is. Strong bones and a well-supported immune system are two things you'll want working in your 70s and 80s, and the habits behind them are worth starting in your 30s and 40s.†
Why people take Everyday Liquid Sunshine 2
- Calcium absorption. Vitamin D3 helps your body absorb the calcium and phosphorus in your food, the raw materials of bone.†
- Bone protein activation. Vitamin K2 activates osteocalcin, one of the main proteins in bone and part of normal bone mineralization.†
- Normal immune function. Vitamin D supports the immune system, and many immune cells carry vitamin D receptors.†
- Muscle function. Your muscles need vitamin D to work normally.†
- Steady vitamin D through darker months. One dropper squeeze a day helps maintain healthy vitamin D levels when sun exposure is limited.†

How Everyday Liquid Sunshine 2 works
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), 5,000 IU
Vitamin D3 is the same form your skin makes when UVB light hits it. Your liver turns it into 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the number a vitamin D blood test reports, and your kidneys turn that into calcitriol, the active form that tells your gut to absorb calcium and phosphorus.†
Why D3 and not D2? A 2012 meta-analysis of head-to-head randomized trials found D3 raised blood 25-hydroxyvitamin D more than D2 overall. The gap was clearest with large, infrequent doses and wasn't significant in the daily-dosing trials, so D3 works at least as well as D2, and better overall in the pooled trials (Tripkovic 2012).
Vitamin D also reaches past bone: B cells, T cells and antigen-presenting cells all carry vitamin D receptors, and these immune cells can make active vitamin D themselves, which is part of how vitamin D supports normal immune function (Aranow 2011).†
What the research doesn't show: that more vitamin D on top of adequate levels builds extra bone. A 2014 meta-analysis of 23 trials in 4,082 adults (average age 59) found a small bone density benefit at one hip site, about 0.8%, and none elsewhere. The authors concluded that routine vitamin D for bone density isn't supported in adults without risk factors for low vitamin D (Reid 2014).
Vitamin K2 (all-trans MK-7), 120 mcg
Vitamin K is a switch. It activates a family of proteins through a step called carboxylation. In the liver, those proteins handle normal blood clotting. In bone, one of the main ones is osteocalcin, a protein involved in bone mineralization, and it needs vitamin K to switch it on.† Vitamin K2 comes in several forms called menaquinones, and MK-7 is the long-chain form found in fermented foods like natto.
Why MK-7? In a study in healthy volunteers, vitamin K1 and MK-7 were both absorbed well, but MK-7 stayed in the blood far longer, gave steadier levels, built up to 7- to 8-fold higher levels with prolonged daily use, and activated more osteocalcin (Schurgers 2007). The label specifies the all-trans form of MK-7.
Is 120 mcg enough to matter? In a 12-week double-blind trial in 120 Japanese adults aged 20 to 69, 100 mcg of MK-7 a day raised the ratio of activated to inactive osteocalcin compared with placebo (Inaba 2015). One limit: that trial measured a marker of vitamin K activity in bone, not bone density or strength.
Why D3 and K2 share a bottle
Vitamin D3 helps your body absorb calcium from food. Vitamin K2 switches on osteocalcin, a bone protein involved in mineralization, the process that lays calcium into bone.† To be straight with you, the studies above tested each vitamin on its own, and long trials of this exact pairing are thin.
The oil base
Both vitamins are fat-soluble, so they come already dissolved in fractionated coconut oil and sunflower oil. Food fat helps too: in 50 healthy older adults given a single vitamin D3 dose, peak blood D3 was 32% higher with a breakfast containing fat than with a fat-free breakfast (Dawson-Hughes 2015). The natural orange flavor is there so the dropper tastes like something other than oil.
How to take Everyday Liquid Sunshine 2
Directions on the label: "Take one serving by mouth in the morning."
- A breakfast with some fat in it, like eggs, nuts or avocado toast, is an easy pairing, per the study above.
- At one serving a day, the bottle's approximately 70 servings last about 70 days.
Ask your healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition. If you take warfarin or another blood thinner that works against vitamin K, talk to your prescriber first: the NIH vitamin K fact sheet describes a serious interaction with warfarin. The 5,000 IU (125 mcg) of D3 in each serving is above the 4,000 IU (100 mcg) daily upper limit that the NIH vitamin D fact sheet lists for everyone 9 and older, so use it with your practitioner's guidance and an occasional blood test. Ask a pediatrician before giving it to a child or teen, since 5,000 IU is above the upper limit for every age group. The same NIH vitamin D fact sheet lists other medicines that can interact with vitamin D.
Don't take our word for it
We've been making supplements in Oregon since 1974. Here's how we work today.
- Verified by independent labs. ISO 17025-accredited labs check our test results.
- Every ingredient lot tested before use. Federal rules only require an identity test on incoming dietary ingredients. We test every incoming lot for identity, potency, heavy metals and microbes.
- If it misses spec, it doesn't go in a bottle. More than 99% of our tests pass, and the lots that don't are turned away.
- A certificate of analysis for every lot. Every lot of Everyday Liquid Sunshine 2 gets its own.
Made in the USA, in Mt. Angel, Oregon. We make and test it there. Mt. Angel is a farm town of about 3,500 people in the Willamette Valley, home to our UL-certified cGMP facility. The formulators, makers and testers work under one roof, and the owners work in the building too. We've been owner-run since 2017. And no, we're not getting old either.
Frequently asked questions
How much vitamin D3 and K2 is in each serving?
Each dropper squeeze has 5,000 IU (125 mcg) of vitamin D3 as cholecalciferol and 120 mcg of vitamin K2 as all-trans MK-7. That's 625% of the Daily Value for vitamin D and 100% for vitamin K.
Is 5,000 IU of vitamin D too much?
It can be, depending on where your levels start. It's above the 4,000 IU daily upper limit for adults, so it makes the most sense when your practitioner has checked your 25-hydroxyvitamin D and wants you at this dose. For a smaller or adjustable amount, Everyday Liquid Sunshine has 1,000 IU of D3 per drop, without the K2.
When should I take it, and does it need food?
Take it in the morning, as the label directs. Pairing it with a breakfast that has some fat in it is a sensible habit, since in one study a breakfast with fat raised peak blood vitamin D3 by 32% compared with a fat-free one.
How long before I notice anything?
Probably not right away. Blood vitamin D climbs gradually over weeks to months, so a follow-up blood test after a few months of daily use tells you more than how you feel.
Can I take it with Bones + K2 or Calcium Citrate?
Yes to Calcium Citrate: this formula has no calcium, and Calcium Citrate provides 250 mg of calcium per capsule. Bones + K2 already has 25 mcg (1,000 IU) of vitamin D3 and 120 mcg of MK-7 per two-capsule serving, so taking both daily adds up to 6,000 IU of D3 and 240 mcg of K2 a day. Check that total with your practitioner before doubling up.
I take a blood thinner. Can I use this?
Talk to your prescriber first. Vitamin K directly affects how warfarin-type blood thinners work, and the researchers who compared K1 and MK-7 cautioned that 50 mcg or more of MK-7 a day may interfere with those medicines. Each serving here has 120 mcg.
