Maximum Male is a men's herbal supplement with 300 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha extract, 600 mg of Tribulus terrestris fruit and 100 mg of horny goat weed extract (standardized to 10% icariin) in every 2-tablet serving, plus a 395 mg blend of muira puama, ginkgo, ginger and freeze-dried oysters. Each bottle holds 60 tablets, a 30-day supply, to support a healthy stress response and everyday energy.†

Maximum Male is for men in their 30s, 40s and beyond who are juggling a job, a family and a training plan. Two tablets a day, no caffeine, no ten-step stack.

Aging isn't optional. Getting old is. The habits that keep a man strong at 70 (lifting, sleep, real food, a lid on stress) are easiest to build now. Maximum Male is one small part of that routine, not a shortcut around it.

Why people take Maximum Male

  • Supports a healthy response to everyday stress, including healthy cortisol levels, with 300 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha per serving.†
  • Supports your training, with ashwagandha studied for strength and endurance in adults who exercise.†
  • Supports steady everyday energy for men who work hard and train hard.†
  • Rounds out the formula with tribulus fruit, horny goat weed, muira puama, ginkgo and ginger, herbs with long histories of traditional use.†

How Maximum Male works

Straight talk: the research below is on single ingredients, not on Maximum Male as a finished formula, and we'll say where it falls short.

KSM-66 ashwagandha: 300 mg

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a small shrub in the nightshade family, and its root has a long history in India's Ayurvedic tradition. KSM-66 is a branded ashwagandha root extract made by Ixoreal Biomed, and it's the extract used in published trials, including the strength study below.

The stress side, in plain English: when you're under pressure, your body releases cortisol, the hormone that keeps you alert and running. That's useful in short bursts and wearing when it never shuts off. Ashwagandha is studied as an adaptogen, an herb that helps the body handle that load. A systematic review of 9 clinical studies in people under stress found ashwagandha lowered cortisol over 30 to 112 days, with no significant side effects reported.† The candid part: a 2025 meta-analysis pooled 7 trials and found cortisol dropped by about 1.16 µg/dL on average, but across 6 trials that asked people how stressed they felt, the change wasn't statistically significant. The cortisol result holds up in both reviews; the "I feel calmer" result is less clear.

The training side: in an 8-week randomized trial in 57 healthy men aged 18 to 50 with little lifting experience, everyone followed the same resistance program while taking 300 mg of KSM-66 twice a day or a placebo. Bench-press max went up 46 kg in the ashwagandha group versus 26 kg with placebo.† Testosterone rose by 96 ng/dL versus 18 ng/dL with placebo, though end-of-study levels weren't statistically different between the groups. More broadly, a 2026 meta-analysis of 13 trials and 599 people found ashwagandha improved exercise performance on average, most consistently for aerobic endurance; strength effects were positive but less certain.†

The fine print: one serving of Maximum Male has 300 mg of KSM-66. The strength trial used 600 mg a day, and that 2026 meta-analysis found 500 to 600 mg a day was the best-supported range. Read these studies as the case for the ingredient, not a promise for a single serving.

Tribulus terrestris fruit: 600 mg

Tribulus is a low, sprawling plant with spiny, burr-like fruit, and that fruit has been used as a tonic in traditional medicine since ancient times. The Maximum Male label lists 600 mg of tribulus fruit per serving.

You'll often see tribulus sold as a testosterone booster. The research doesn't back that up. A systematic review of human and animal studies concluded tribulus appears ineffective for raising testosterone in people; the only human increases it found came when tribulus was part of a combined supplement. In a 4-week randomized study of 21 healthy men aged 20 to 36, tribulus extract didn't change testosterone, androstenedione or luteinizing hormone compared with placebo. So tribulus is here as part of a traditional men's formula, and we won't sell it to you as a testosterone booster.

Horny goat weed extract: 100 mg

Horny goat weed is a leafy Epimedium plant from traditional Chinese practice. Our extract is standardized to 10% icariin, the flavonoid researchers track in this plant. Human research on horny goat weed is thin, so we make no specific claims for it.

The 395 mg blend: muira puama, ginkgo, ginger and oysters

Muira puama is the root of a small Amazonian tree used as a tonic in Brazilian folk tradition; "4:1" means four parts root were concentrated into one part extract. Ginkgo extract comes from the fan-shaped leaves of the ginkgo tree, standardized here to 24% ginkgo flavonglycosides and 6% triterpene lactones. The freeze-dried oysters are why the label carries a shellfish allergen statement. Oysters are known as a food source of zinc, but the Supplement Facts panel doesn't list zinc, so don't count on Maximum Male for it.

The label gives the blend's 395 mg total, not each ingredient's share, so we don't make claims for any of the four on its own.

How to take Maximum Male

The label directions: "Take two tablets per day, as a dietary supplement."

Our suggestions: take both tablets together, or one in the morning and one in the evening (the strength trial split its doses between waking and bedtime). The label doesn't mention food, so that's your call. Either way, take it daily: the strength trial ran 8 weeks, and the cortisol studies ran 30 to 112 days.

Maximum Male contains molluscan shellfish (from oysters). Skip it if you avoid shellfish. Ask your healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition.

Don't take our word for it

We've been making supplements in Oregon since 1974. Here's what stands behind the two tablets you take each day.

  • Verified by independent labs. ISO 17025-accredited labs check our test results.
  • Every ingredient lot tested before use. Federal rules only require an identity test on incoming dietary ingredients. We test every incoming lot for identity, potency, heavy metals and microbes.
  • If it misses spec, it doesn't go in a bottle. More than 99% of our tests pass, and the lots that don't are turned away.
  • A certificate of analysis for every lot. Every lot of Maximum Male has its own.

Made in the USA. Made and tested in Mt. Angel, Oregon. Mt. Angel is a farm town of about 3,500 people in the Willamette Valley. Our UL-certified cGMP facility there keeps formulators, makers and testers under one roof, and the owners work in the building too. After 52 years of making supplements, we're not getting old either.

Frequently asked questions

How many Maximum Male tablets should I take a day?

Two tablets a day, per the label. A 60-tablet bottle holds 30 two-tablet servings, a 30-day supply.

Does Maximum Male raise testosterone?

We don't claim it does. The strongest evidence in this formula is for ashwagandha: in the 8-week strength trial above, men taking 600 mg a day of KSM-66 (twice the amount in one serving) saw testosterone rise more than men on placebo, though end-of-study levels weren't statistically different. Tribulus, despite its reputation, didn't change testosterone in healthy young men.

How long before I notice a difference?

Give it about two months of daily use.† The studies above ran 8 weeks for strength and 30 to 112 days for cortisol, so a week or two is too soon to judge.

Can I take Maximum Male with Men's Multi or Men's 50+?

Yes. A 2-capsule serving of Men's Multi or Men's 50+ Multivitamin has 300 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha, the same extract and amount as Maximum Male. Taking both gets you to 600 mg a day, the daily amount used in the strength trial. If you take medication, run the combination past your practitioner first.

Is there caffeine in Maximum Male?

No. The label lists no caffeine, so you can take it whenever it suits your day. If you want caffeine in a formula, Good Energy+ has 100 mg per 2-capsule serving.

Is Maximum Male vegetarian?

No. It contains freeze-dried oysters, and the label states "Contains Molluscan Shellfish (from oysters)."

Is Maximum Male safe to take with medication?

Ask your healthcare practitioner first, and bring the Supplement Facts panel so they can check every ingredient against your medication list.
